Shibori: Dye & Discharge
Explore the visual and textural cornucopia known as Shibori. Basic shaped resist techniques: tying, binding, pleating, stitching, knotting, clamping, and pole wrapping are easy to learn and offer a limitless interaction of pattern and color. We’ll use the Procion MX fiber reactive dyes, and thiox as the discharge agent, to dye cellulose fibers (cotton, rayon, Tencel, linen, and silk). We will cover cloth selection, preparation, and historical and contemporary applications, all through lively and humorous discussions. People have been doing this for thousands of years, you can too.
